Every teacher has his own gift 4 June 2014

Our lectorate Christian teaching published a new Timoty for teachers biblestudy about the gift you have as a Christian teacher.

The word ‘gift’ is often used in education to express what particular competence a student can develop. Think about a gift for certain subjects like a gift for music or a gift for mathematics. We might also say a student has the gift for gentleness or the gift of leadership.

But what does this biblical word actually mean? Does it refer to something at the core of someone’s personality or something that can be acquired by training? Is a gift something from within your genes, a natural predisposition or to the contrary: a supernatural gift? Or is a gift something in the middle: a predisposition that is sanctified?
