Martinus Jan Langeveld (1905–1989) was a key figure in Dutch academic educational studies after the Second World War. This article investigates the origins and sources of Langeveld’s theory by examining his prior publications and the main references in conjunction with the intellectual movements of his time.

‘I see education as a way to change the world. That is why I started training to be a teacher in Ghana.’ Now, aged 34, Joshuah Inkum is living in the Netherlands and studying at Driestar Christian University for Teacher Education to become an English teacher in secondary education. His motivation has not changed. ‘Students need someone who believes in them and pushes them to persevere. That’s what motivates me.’

Training in Uganda

Livingstone International University (LIU) in Mbale, Uganda, recently invested heavily in the abilities of their teaching staff to teach a values-based and practice-oriented curriculum, by participating in a training consisting of online parts in December and on-site days in January 2024.
